DISPERSED CAMPING Often Pristine……Always Private & Free

DISPERSED CAMPING refers to Free, No Services Provided, camping on Federal Recreational Lands. This post highlights dispersed campsites on Uinta Flat Road in the Dixie National Forest that are within 10 miles of Duck Creek Village in Southern Utah. Proper planning is required to Pack In Everything You Need and you must Pack Everything Out and Leave No Trace. SEE FREECAMPSITES.NET for an excellent breakdown of the Regulations, Considerations, and Tips for Survival regarding On Your Own, No Services Camping.

The Uinta Flat/Strawberry Point Area is great for a first open-range experience. The top three photos show examples of legal dispersed sites. The first two show my personal favorite that is Free, Private, and Pristine with the exception of the fire ring someone constructed sometime ago. The third picture shows how elaborate dispersed campsites can become.

In addition to being an hours drive from both Zion and Bryce National Parks the area is spectacular in its own right. The above photos show Navajo Lake with Cascade Falls exiting a lava tube from the bottom of the lake. Neiman is seen excited about Duck Creek. Uinta Flat is shown as well as Appropriately Careful Parents and family viewing Zion’s West Temple from the Strawberry Point Vista. Another especially unique and exciting activity are the Lava Tubes at Mammoth Cave. For photos and detailed information of the “caves” see UTAHSADVENTUREFAMILY.COM The Lava Tubes offer a fabulous and Very Structured first “Caving” experience for grade schoolers to grandparents.

Perhaps the most Awe-Inspiring feature of remote Southern Utah are the World-Class Star Shows under an evening sky that earned “Dark Sky Designation” at nearby Bryce National Park. Finally, Duck Creek Village is a full service Resort Community that will offer any needed support for your camping experience. Websites have detailed information on community facilities.

The Dispersed Sites are located off Rt. 89 four miles north of Duck Creek Village. A West turn off Rt. 89 on Uinta Flat Rd. will lead to dozens of legal sites between the highway and Uinta Flat.
